How to Get There

Choquequirao is an archaeological site located in Peru, in the Cusco region. It's situated in the La Convención province, in the Vilcabamba mountain range.

The Choquequirao trek typically begins from Cachora, a small village approximately 4 hours by bus from Cusco.

Three trails lead to Choquequirao: Cachora, Huanipaca, and another from Yanama. Most trekkers choose the Cachora route, which involves a 6-hour drive from Cusco, including breakfast stops.

Once you start the route, all that's left is to walk for the next 4, 5, or 6 days.

Best time to go

The optimal season for the Choquequirao trek is from May to September, during Peru's dry season.

Early November, when the weather is more favorable, also presents good conditions. During these months, rainfall is minimal, and trail conditions are safer. The dry season offers clearer views of the surrounding peaks and better camping conditions.

Costs
