🍁🇨🇦 ESCAPE TO CANADA and discover the B side of Quebec 🥮🍂
Unlike other regions, locals don't talk about leaf peeping, but rather about admiring the colors. A philosophy of life that refers to taking the time to observe and connect with the changing seasons.

Just 90 minutes from downtown Montreal lies Canada's best-kept secret: Les Laurentides. A region that offers something big cities can't: authenticity without sacrifice. Here, autumn in Canada isn't just a spectacle for every visitor, but a setting that appeals to travelers who enjoy authentic cultural immersion.
Les Laurentides encompass more than 20,000 square kilometers of mixed boreal forests, crystal-clear lakes, and mountains that reach up to 968 meters high at Mont-Tremblant.
Autumn in Canada: Color Calendar
The first color change begins in the third week of September, after which the magic of nature spreads to the most hidden villages in Quebec.

Autumn in Canada in the Laurentians is characterized by daytime temperatures ranging from 12 to 18°C. Nighttime temperatures range from 2 to 8°C. Light rain showers occur on some days, and humidity ranges from 65 to 75%.
Hiking through its mountains
There are several trails you can follow in Val David Regional Park. For families, there's the easy route: Le sentier familial. It's three kilometers in total and a 90-minute walk. Le Renard is also an easy trail, 1.3 km long and a 60-minute walk maximum.
For travelers looking for longer hikes of intermediate difficulty, there's La Gélinotte, a two-kilometer, 120-minute walk. This is followed by La Grande Boucle Mont King, a 6.7-kilometer, three-hour hike.
Some others are also worthwhile, although their difficulty is a bit more challenging.
The most popular: Mont Condor West, 3.8 km.
The classics: Monts Condor and King, 6.9 km.
Lac Amigo and Mont Condor, 8.6 km.
Monts Césaire and Condor, 6.2 km.
From the observation points on some trails, you can observe the flow of the Rivière du Nord.
If you want to venture out and climb the big mountains, then rent equipment (or bring your own) and start with L’Impériale and L’Amphithéâtre au Mont King.
A plus
While taking a nature walk, you're likely to be accompanied by a variety of mammal, reptile, and bird species. White-tailed deer, red foxes, and black-eyed foxes are also some; garter snakes and pike-perch frogs are others.
Meanwhile, in the sky or in the trees, you can spot two species of woodpeckers: the hairy and the crested. Barred owls, red-shouldered hawks, merlins, and Canada warblers are also occasionally seen.
Entrance tickets to the regional park can be purchased online at the park's official website. The park is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and you must select your entry time when purchasing your tickets.
Prices range from 10 to 14 CAD, depending on the type of activity you plan to do in the nature reserve.

Local flavors
Some restaurants in the Laurentians focus on serving original Quebec dishes. Au Petit Poucet is one of them. This is a traditional Canadian restaurant, its rustic and warm decor embraces you, then wins your heart with its local flavors.
They serve traditional dishes with ingredients produced in the region. Among their signature dishes are split pea soup, meatloaf, shanks, and, of course, maple-smoked ham.
For dessert, don't miss the chômeur chaud pudding and maple syrup cake.
Au Petit Puocet is located at 1030 Rte 117, Val-David, Quebec, Canada. The average price per person is between 20 and 30 CAD. No reservation is required.
If you have the opportunity, try the Artisanal Cidre de Glace and Tire sur la Neige. This is traditionally a winter dessert, but some lodges prepare it with the first snowfall in October.
