Citizens of more than 80 countries need a visa to enter Indonesia. This is intended solely for improved immigration control within the country.

As a U.S. citizen, you need to meet certain requirements to apply for your entry visa to the country (these requirements also apply to other nationalities):

  • Your passport must have at least two blank pages.

  • A passport valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date.

  • Damaged or previously reported lost/stolen passports may result in denied entry.

  • You must have a confirmed return or onward ticket.

  • Be prepared to show proof of sufficient funds (at least $2,000 USD or equivalent and a maximum of $7,000 USD).

If it does not meet these requirements, you will be denied entry. Avoid traveling with a damaged passport or one that has been previously reported as lost or stolen, as this may result in denied entry.

Visa Options for Your Stay 💻🪪

Visas are divided according to your travel purpose: tourism, family, transit, business, or long stays. The most popular visas are those issued for tourism, visits, and transit.

For travelers who want flexibility, the E Visa On Arrival (e-VOA) is highly recommended. E-Visa and All-Indonesia are other types of tourist visas.

💻 How to Apply for e-VOA

  • Visit the official Indonesian Immigration website.

  • Fill out the online application form.

  • Upload required documents (passport photo, recent color photo, proof of funds).

  • Pay the visa fee online.

  • Receive your e-VOA via email.

  • Print it and carry it with you when traveling.

🪪 Before applying, you must know:

  • The e-VOA is valid for 30 days.

  • Can be extended once for another 30 days (for 500,000 rupiah) at the nearest immigration office one week before it expires.

  • You can apply online and avoid border queues by securing entry in advance.

  • The visa costs approximately $35 USD.

To apply for your visa, you can visit the official Indonesian Immigration website (https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/) and complete the process before your trip.
