Pros and Cons of Booking During Black Friday

PROS

  • Savings of 20-50% off regular fares. Some deals offering up to 60% off on select routes

  • Airlines often offer double or triple frequent flyer miles on Black Friday purchases.

  • Bundled flight + hotel packages can save $200-$500.

  • Loyalty program members get exclusive pre-sale access 1-2 days before the general public.

  • Some airlines offer 24-48-hour holds to secure deals.

  • Book far in advance (up to 11 months) at discounted rates.

  • Major carriers compete, creating genuine price competition.

CONS

  • Best deals sell out within minutes to hours; popular routes and dates go first

  • Deals typically valid for specific travel windows (usually Jan-May 2026).

  • Millions of travelers are competing for the same limited-inventory deals.

  • Most Black Friday deals are basic economy or restricted fare classes with limited flexibility.

  • Not all advertised "deals" are genuine discounts; some prices match regular low fares.

  • Requires constant monitoring, quick decision-making, and dealing with crashed websites.

  • Basic economy fares exclude seat selection, checked bags, and may have change/cancellation penalties.

🦫 FRIENDLY REMINDER:

Be careful with your purchases. Buy flights on the airlines' official websites, and if you're unsure about your decision, don't buy anything.

Some prices improve on days like Travel Tuesday and Cyber Monday, but Black Friday isn't the only option you have to find cheap flights.

Lufthansa 💸

If you're wondering what to do in Curaçao, this guide will introduce you to eco-conscious adventures beyond the typical tourist plan.

The island welcomed over 500 k stay-over visitors and 800 k cruise tourists last year, according to the Curaçao Tourist Board's 2024 annual report. This is a good contribution to the local economy, but it represents a major challenge for sustainability.

The airline is working closely with other carriers that are also participating in the Black Friday deals. SWISS, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels Airlines are taking part in the Black Friday promotion.

Travel ID holders will have access to a pre-sale a couple of days before Black Friday. It is believed to begin on November 25th, and will be open to the general public on November 28th.

While Lufthansa isn't guaranteeing the best fares of the year for this period, it is promising good prices on some international routes to Europe. Transatlantic flights could see discounts of between 15% and 30%. Business and Class fares may also be available.

It is recommended to register for Travel ID and monitor the airline's official website days before the big date.
